Y Learning Photography Project

The Y Learning Photography Project is a partnership between Cary Photographic Artists and the Taylor Family YMCA in Cary. This educational outreach program began in 2018 and it involves CPA volunteers working with the Taylor Family YMCA staff to provide photography instruction to students who participate in the Y Learning program.

Instruction covers camera operation, photo composition, product photography, telling a story, portrait photography, and photo editing. The participants are given Nikon D90 loaner cameras to use during lesson assignments and field trips to allow them to practice what they learn.

The project ends with an exhibit and reception. The highlight of the project is when students stand by their favorite images and field questions from invited guests, which include their family, YMCA staff, and CPA volunteers and members.
